The word 'Brody' brings out contrasting emotions for many Michigan State University (MSU) students and alumni. It's often referred to as a shit-hole, where a large portion of MSU's annual crop of freshmen resides in exile. In fact, it's hardly even on campus grounds. Sitting on the outskirts of the university's domain, the complex is actually closer to the city limits of Lansing than it is to the main part of the campus...

This book is a collection of stories told through the eyes of two college freshmen who lived in Bryan Hall at MSU's Brody Complex... While there are certainly some embellishments in these stories, they are based on actual events and experiences that took place during one memorable year.

The thing about Moose was, he really didn't care. He'd talk to someone only if he wanted to, and for no other reason. His defining characteristic was what his friends called The Stare. If a person said something he didn't like or thought was just plain stupid (which was pretty often), he'd look at them intensely with a half-crooked frown...

...Bucky pulled up with his dad and kid brother and started unloading his stuff. Like Moose, he didn't need a lot of trips because there wasn't much to unload. Not that Bucky didn't have a lot; it was just a pain to bring all the stuff downstate because he lived in Michigan 's Upper Peninsula...

...Bucky had to unlock his door, and inside was Cody, sprawled out and watching TV. While this normally wouldn't be a huge deal, the fact that he was buck-naked on his bean-bag pillow was a little disturbing.

As usual, some of the Boys were left out of the Beer Pimp's special deals. The Pimp was unaccommodating to some of Bryan Hall's boys, especially to Bucky, Moose, and Jay Cock, and he would never forget the time that Moose dented the hood of his Camaro...

...While walking home from his last class of the week, Bucky simply refused to accept his recent wave of mediocrity. The wheels inside his ever-developing Spartan-educated mind began to ponder a scheme to obtain some means of acquiring alcohol... As the wheels continued to turn, he thought of his friends Moose and Jay Cock and their particular talents...

As Bucky told Jim and Brad about the plan and how it was executed to flawless perfection, the Boys just stood in the room in deep admiration... as word spread across Brody about this great feat, the Boys became known for the rest of the quarter as the 'Kings of Beer.' Bryan Hall became their little kingdom.

It all started on a cold Friday night in mid February. Spring was still at least a month away, but the party mood of the Brody Boys was at an all-time high. There was a special excitement on the fourth floor that could barely be contained. Thoughts of the upcoming spring weather, girls in bikinis tanning outside, and outdoor parties were beginning to creep into the minds of every Brody Boy. Purely by coincidence, every Boy decided to stay on campus for the weekend...

On Sunday evening, the mood of the floor began to get very tense. No one would take any responsibility for the damages... Word soon spread across the Brody Complex that the Boys of fourth Floor Bryan Hall were responsible for the largest weekend of floor damage in the history of the Brody Complex...

The Boys settled into their seats at the theater. A few of them started munching on greasy popcorn and taking sips from their Cokes. Surprisingly, there were only about a dozen other people in the theater for opening night of the movie...
